Students are advised that Athabasca University (AU) will soon be reducing the duration of the following History, Theory, and Technical courses. For all students who register to begin on May 1, 2026 or later, the course must be completed within four months.
This change has been implemented by Athabasca University to better align course structures with financial aid and scholarship eligibility requirements. Under the previous structure, some students experienced challenges applying for government funding, loans, or scholarship support. By shortening the duration of these courses, Athabasca is aiming to reduce funding barriers and support improved access to financial assistance.
The affected History, Theory, Technical courses are:
- ARCH 653: Contemporary Architectural Theory & Research
- APST 505: Advanced Structures
- APST 555: Architectural Design: Lighting
- APST 605: Architectural Design: Acoustics
- APST 655: Whole Systems Design
- PPRC 651: Architectural Practice Management
